Between lessons

It is so strange how someone who tries to take up so little space in a room can completely take over my thoughts. Every time he stumbles over his words or quickly averts his eyes, my heart does this ridiculous, uncontrollable flutter.
It feels like I am the only one who really sees him - in his quiet, hesitant nature.
I catch myself replaying the tiniest, most insignificant moments in my head for hours, thinking about a glance or a tiny shift in his posture, hoping it actually meant something. It is honestly exhausting caring this much, but there is just something so incredibly genuine about him. He is completely stripped of all that loud, performative confidence everyone else has, and it makes the rest of the world just fade into the background. I just wish I knew if his heart races the exact same way mine does during those brief seconds when we happen to look at each other.
